What do Real Estate Agents do?

One of the common advertising motto that we see in our industry is “I sell homes” or “I have sold X* homes.”  While it is correct that real estate agents influence real estate sales but is it really accurate to say that “I have sold” X homes?

I, as an agent, firmly believe that “I” don’t sell homes rather I sell services that help my sellers and buyers end up at the same table.  This means when I sit down with my sellers, I explain to them how I will go about finding the right buyer for them.  I will make recommendations of items to be completed or services to be rendered such as painting, floors or even a home stagger but my involvement in the process would be dictated by my client, the seller.

The same is true when I’m helping our buyers.  I explain to my clients that I’m here to help them through the process but they have to decide which property they will be purchasing.  My help comes in forms of conducting in depth buyer consultations to truly understand what and why my client is looking to make this move.  What are they looking for and when they would like to make this happen by and how can I, as a real estate professional, make it easy for them and help them achieve the results they are looking for!

We don’t get paid because we are a party to the sale rather for our knowledge and expertise in helping our clients achieve the results that matter most to them in a timely manner.

I hope this helps!
