The Bizarre and the Beautiful: Unique Architecture from Around the World

Every major city has something to be proud of; whether that is a great monument or a historically significant building, the city relishes the fact that people want to come and check it out. Now, there are several treasures in the world that remain undiscovered, lost over the years and forgotten. Similarly, there are places intentionally displaced in the past. The following list rediscovers 13  gems, both hidden and well-known, that can be found around the world:

  1. Southwest Florida’s Abandoned Dome Houses (Cape Romano) – Built in 1981 and sold in 2005, these homes have been the target of redevelopment for nearly a decade, yet plans to tear them down have never carried through.

China’s Abandoned Wonderland Park – In 1998, only 45 minutes outside of Beijing, the construction of Wonderland ceased to continue due to a dispute between developers Reignwood Group and local farmers. Ten years later, construction resumed but stopped months later, leaving a half-constructed castle standing on the outskirts of the great Chinese city.unique architecture

  4. Craco, Italy – 40-kilometres inland from the Gulk of Taranto, lies the abandoned commune of Craco. This medieval village is in the Basilicata Region, located near the “boot” of the country.unique architecture

Unfortunately, due to the fact the Bogota river became contaminated, tourists lost interest in the area and stopped visiting the hotel. Years after the place was abandoned, claims of a haunting surfaced.
