Just Listed $100 million NYC penthouse

A Long Island real estate developer by the name of Steven Klar, president of The Klar Organization, has listed his octagonal penthouse for a whopping $100 million.

The 8,000-square-foot penthouse is located at 150 West 56th Street, and has been on the market since last Friday through Prudential Douglas Elliman, reports The New York Times.

The unit covers the 73rd to 75th floors, has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and 3,000 square feet of wrap-around terrace space. It has one of the highest terrace spaces in NYC, with some of the best views of New York City.

If purchased for this price, it would beat the sales record of a penthouse sold at One57, in which a mystery buyer purchased the unit for $90 million.

Klar bought the apartment for $4.5 million in 1993, when the banks took back the tower from developer Ian Bruce Eichner. It was a raw space back then that needed work and renovations. Klar has been living in the penthouse for the last 17 years.

When answering questions regarding the price tag, Klar told The New York Times, “Art is what people are willing to pay for, and an apartment like this is a piece of art.”
