Cineplex Entertainment to Open Three More VIP Theatres

Going to the theatres in Toronto is about to become much more exclusive. On October 15th 2012 Cineplex Entertainment announced that it was going to expand its VIP Cinema concept to three more locations: the first standalone VIP cinema which will be located at the Shops on Don Mills, and adding VIP Cinemas to the SilverCity at Yonge-Eglinton and the Cineplex Odeon at Queensway and Islington. The locations at Don Mills and Yonge-Eglinton are expected to open in late 2014 whereas the location at Queensway is expected to be open late in 2013. Currently, the only VIP Cinema concept available in Toronto is at the Cineplex Odeon Varsity multiplex located at the Manulife Centre.

What’s the added value of Cineplex’s VIP Cinema concept? This high end form of movie going provides you with a menu service at your seat, an adult only environment (exclusive to moviegoers nineteen years old and up), a dedicated box office, large luxurious seats and the ability to drink alcohol during the movie. The price is $19.99 which is about an extra five bucks on top of the conventional movie ticket; but hey, Canadian household debt is already at 163.4% of income so what’s the big deal on spending an extra five dollars to go watch a movie?
